Production Technology in the 21st century: Nano, Digital & Circular
Lorenz Herrmann is the new head of the department "Advanced Materials & Surfaces" at the the Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Science and Technology (Empa).
Until recently, Lorenz Herrmann was the head of the "Energy & Materials" research department at ABB's research center in Dättwil. His research focuses on joining technologies, corrosion, advanced materials processing, electron microscopy and nanotechnology. He is a proven expert with an industrial background. He studied at the University of Regensburg and completed his doctorate at the "École Normale Supérieure" in Paris and at the University of Regensburg on the electronic properties of single-walled carbon nanotubes. He holds a doctorate in physics.
