SAMCE EXCHANGE Grant

We believe in the power of scientific exchange and collaboration. Only if we work together across disciplines and institutions, we will be able to develop advanced manufacturing technologies for the next generation of innovative products.

We are awarding the SAMCE EXCHANGE Grant to give researchers the opportunity to expand their horizon and learn from other members of our scientific community.

The SAMCE EXCHANGE Grant enables young researchers to visit another Swiss research group and thus
  • broaden their horizons,
  • gain new competences,
  • create a mutual understanding and/or
  • make new connections that may
  • lead to new joint projects or strengthen existing ones.

The SAMCE EXCHANGE Grant supports short visits (at least 5 days) of individual researchers or technicians to another Swiss research group with 500 CHF.

After the exchange a small report (300 words and a photo) needs to be submitted that will be published on the SAMCE website.

Who can apply?
This grant is aimed at young researchers (e.g., master graduates, PhD students, PostDocs), but also technicians. The applicants work in a Swiss research group and want to broaden their horizon by visiting another Swiss research group.

The grant does not cover visits to industry research groups. Researchers from industry are not eligible to apply.

Reciprocal exchanges are possible. Each applicant has to submit an individual application that will be judged independently.
Application Deadline: 14 January 2025

Please download the application form. Return the completed form to [email protected] latest by 14 January 2025.

All applications will be reviewed and compared by three reviewers. Below you can find a set of questions that the review committee considers when shortlisting applications.
Applicants will be notified about the decision in February 2025.

  1. Will the applicant benefit from the exchange by learning about new methods and equipment?
  2. Will the applicant benefit from the exchange by building new or stronger relationships?
  3. Will the lab of the applicant benefit from the exchange by learning about new methods and equipment?
  4. Will the lab of the applicant benefit from the exchange by building new or stronger relationships?
  5. Will the exchange foster an additional collaboration between the labs that would not be realized without this exchange?
  6. How likely is it that the exchange would not happen without the financial support of the SAMCE EXCHANGE Award?
